Methodology
How TestedOrNot decides what to show, and what we won't do.
What counts as a test result
We count a published lab analysis of a specific product that compares measured creatine against the label claim. Sources include SuppCo's Tested program, NOW Foods' in-house testing, Eurofins tests commissioned by James Smith, Labdoor, and brand-commissioned tests posted publicly. We show who paid for the test, because competitor-commissioned and brand-commissioned tests deserve extra scrutiny. Paywalled results (for example ConsumerLab) are noted as "tested" but not reported.
Pass, fail, mixed
- Passed: every published test we found met or came close to the label claim.
- Failed: every published test we found came in far below the claim.
- Mixed: the tests disagree, or one came in partly under claim. Read the dates. Newer lots can differ.
- No public test: we haven't found one. That isn't a negative signal.
A result applies to the lot tested on that date. It's a data point, not a permanent verdict on a brand.
Certifications
"NSF Sport" means we found the product in the public NSF Certified for Sport search on the last-checked date. Certification is flavor- and product-specific. We couldn't automatically verify Informed Sport listings, so we leave them blank until we can check them by hand.
Price per 5 g
List price ÷ total grams of creatine × 5, using the brand's own page on the date shown. We don't compute it for creatine HCl, because doses aren't comparable gram for gram.
How we make money
Some "Check price" links may become affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Affiliate status never changes a test result, and we never link to buy a product that failed. Brands can't pay to remove a failed result.
Corrections
